I explained this to Jaycar & to be fair they did give me my money back but I notice they didnt change ther advertising on thier web site or thier new catalouge. It is also advertised as an NTSC to PAL converter BUT IT ISNT! After a lot of hassle ( & a few different units) with this I figured out it will let you watch NTSC tapes (eg converting NTSC to a non-NTSC TV) but I understand it does not convert the "synch" signal so you cant then recored the same tape onto DVD. I used one for a while and dont belive it ever made any difference to either picture quality or macrovison signals.

If tis PAL the surest way to be able to make a DVD copy Ive found is to use an older VHS player (a lot of older models did not support macrovision).Ī word of warning - I see a lot of mention of use of the video stabiser from Jaycar - Bascially I dont advise anyone waste money on the Jaycar converter asI dont belive it doesnt do what its claimed. If you are certain it is not a NTSC tape (if it is you simply might not ever be able to ever copy it with your LG. However one one particular case it wouldnt allow me to make a copy of the tape (its NTSC) without the problem you described & I think has the later "enhanced' version of macrovision.
Vcr to dvd conversion macrovision manual#
It actually says in the LG manual that it wont copy NTSC to the HDD but Ive actually found that on many tapes I can do this without problem. Never had a problem with macrovison when copying a PAL tape to the LG but then Ive never tired doing it with and commercial "movie" type tape etc. I have quite a large collection of tapes (PAL & NTSC) on technical sujects that are never likley to be released on DVD. Did exactly the same thing (LG DVD recorder) & have had exactly the same problem.
